Gratitude is easy to feel over coffee. It's harder to do something about on the drive home.
Karen is scrolling. A friend is in Hawaii and Karen is not. Emily and Sarah arrive with coffee, and Sarah says the thing nobody says out loud: we have the world at our fingertips and somehow feel more disconnected than ever.
Then a voice begins listing what was done for the hungry, the stranger, and the sick.
Gratitude in Action is an original Christian skit written exclusively for Loving Christ Ministries. Six parts, one coffee shop table, and a conversation that turns a feeling into a plan before the coffee gets cold.
Gratitude in Action was written for the theme bundle Grateful for God and pairs beautifully with any message about thankfulness, service, and faith that shows up in what we actually do.
SYNOPSIS
In Gratitude in Action, three lifelong friends meet for their monthly catch-up and end up somewhere they didn't plan to go. Karen admits she overlooks the blessings she already has. Emily says gratitude can't stay a feeling, it has to become something you do. Between their lines, an offstage voice reads Matthew 25 in pieces: I was hungry, I was a stranger, I was sick.
By the end, each woman has named something specific and small enough to actually happen. Sarah will finally make the food bank donation she keeps meaning to make. Karen will start a clothing and toy drive. And Linda, who has been listening from the next table the whole time, asks if she can come too.

Six parts. Four women appear on stage, one narrates, and one is an offstage voice reading the words of Jesus, which can be read by a woman or a man. Performance time is approximately 5 minutes. The narrator and the offstage voice can both read from scripts.
